Useful things to know about alpaca scarves for women

Why is an alpaca scarf especially comfortable to wear?

An alpaca scarf combines natural warmth with a pleasantly light feel. The fine alpaca fibre is soft, temperature-balancing and especially suited to cool days without feeling heavy or stiff.

How do I care for an alpaca scarf properly?

Alpaca does not need to be washed after every wear. Careful airing is often enough. If cleaning is needed, we recommend gentle hand washing or a suitable wool programme with mild wool detergent.

Why are alpaca scarves long-lasting companions?

High-quality alpaca scarves are timeless, comfortable to wear and, with good care, usable over many seasons. That is why they suit a considered wardrobe that values quality over short-lived trends.

Where are alpaca scarves by Manuela Bedford produced?

Our alpaca scarves are made in family-run workshops in Peru. The collaboration is based on long-standing cooperation and grown partnerships, with craft experience, high-quality workmanship and respectful relationships at the centre.

Where does the alpaca wool for our scarves come from?

The alpaca wool for our scarves comes from Peru, a country with a centuries-old tradition of breeding, raising and working with alpaca fibres. Alpacas have been native for thousands of years, especially in the Andean regions of Peru and Bolivia, and are closely connected to the culture and textile history of South America.

Their special fibre quality is closely connected to their long breeding history: alpacas are considered domesticated descendants of South American camelids, whose development is often described in connection with guanacos and vicuñas. We explain more about this and other background in a separate article.
