Since Manuela Bedford founded the company in 1990, Bedford Knitwear has been continuously developed. At the beginning, the exclusive alpaca products were only sold at consumer fairs. Together with her husband, she was one of the first to import them to Germany.

Inspired by the colorful country outings in German castles, Manuela Bedford developed her idea of ​​offering the special wool of alpacas in modern colors and cuts for German consumers. At first, the European environment only had Peruvian patterns inspired by the heritage of the Incas. Manuela Bedford's new colors and cuts immediately caught attention and have since become an integral part of country outings, fairs and markets in Germany.

The Manuela Bedford brand was subsequently launched in 2015. Boutiques across Europe now sell Manuela Bedford products.

What began more than 30 years ago with individual products has developed over the years into an annual collection. Today, we stand for slow fashion with a clear self-image.

Over the years, we have built partnerships with production companies in Peru that have existed for decades. Together, we have overcome difficult hurdles such as the Corona pandemic and we still stand together today. In our understanding, fair trade and sustainable production are not a status quo, but an ongoing process of improvement that we are continuously developing together with our partners in Peru and Europe.
