We owe the fine and high-quality handcraft of our alpaca fashion to our great partners, with whom we have maintained a close business relationship for years. In addition to IFER Knitwear, we also work with the production company Diamanta SAC from Ayacucho. Diamanta belongs to the larger company Solid, which, like Diamanta itself, is socially committed and improves people's lives with many great projects.
The small town of Ayacucho is located in an economically weaker area in the mountains of Peru. In the 1980s, Ayacucho was still marked by terrorism during the armed conflict in Peru. Today, it is less industrialized than Lima and urgently needs further support in some areas. That is why we are all the more pleased about the long-term partnership, which can provide good support to the people in this area.
What connects Diamanta/Solid and Manuela Bedford lies in the origins of both companies: They were both founded and run by women. For founder Manuela Bedford, it was a matter close to her heart to work with other women and thus be able to give something back to female entrepreneurs.
Diamanta / Solid not only convinces us because of the high quality and the fine weaving skills that make our alpaca products so high-quality. It is also the social and societal commitment that impresses us. In addition to production, Diamanta organizes various aid projects together with Solid and is particularly committed to protecting women. Empowerment is a major focus: kindergartens are supported, there are offers of help for young, teenage mothers and educational programs are offered for young entrepreneurs. This commitment is something that we at Manuela Bedford fully support and want to support through our collaboration.
