About Manuela Bedford
Since Manuela Bedford founded Bedford Knitwear in 1990, the company has continued to evolve. In the beginning, the exclusive alpaca products were sold only at consumer fairs. Together with her husband, Manuela Bedford was one of the first to import these special pieces to Germany.
Inspired by the colourful country fairs held at German castles, she developed the idea of offering the special wool of alpacas in modern colours and cuts for customers in Germany. At the time, alpaca fashion in Europe was still mostly defined by Peruvian patterns inspired by the heritage of the Incas. Manuela Bedford’s new colours and silhouettes immediately stood out and have since become a familiar presence at country fairs, markets and events across Germany.
In 2015, the Manuela Bedford brand was officially introduced to retail. Today, boutiques across Europe carry Manuela Bedford pieces.
What began more than 30 years ago with individual products has grown into one collection per year. Today, we stand for slow fashion with a clear sense of identity.
